Soccer Game Preview: Dekaney vs. Grand Oaks

The Dekaney Wildcats will square off against the Grand Oaks Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dekaney is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Everything went their way against Nimitz last Monday as Dekaney made off with an 8-1 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Cougars are ranked 545th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Grand Oaks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Panthers a 2-0 shutout. The Grizzlies' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Grand Oaks' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matchups. As for Dekaney, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-4 record this season.
