St. Joseph-Ogden won the last time they faced Paxton-Buckley-Loda and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 35-12 margin over the Panthers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Panthers are ranked 234th).

St. Joseph-Ogden's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kodey McKinney led the charge by throwing for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also punching in one TD on the ground. Kaden Wedig was McKinney's top target, picking up 132 receiving yards and one score.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kayden Vance, who picked up 140 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one rushing score. His longest reception was for an incredible 82 yards. Another passer making a difference was Sam Hall, who threw for 206 yards and one TD on only 17 passes.

St. Joseph-Ogden has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 19 points this season. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
