Softball Recap: Grainger Victorious

While Grainger didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Jefferson County Patriots on Tuesday. The Grizzlies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Grainger got a massive performance out of Jaylee Nickell, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Nickell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amanda Kledzik, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Grainger always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Grainger and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Jefferson County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Grainger will host Cocke County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jefferson County, they will square off against Morristown-Hamblen West at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson County is facing Morristown-Hamblen West at the right time seeing as Morristown-Hamblen West is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
