Baseball Recap: Village Christian Academy Comes Up Short

The Village Christian Academy Knights didn't have quite enough to beat the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots on Friday and fell 8-7.

Ryan Rogers was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Joseph Randolph made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Village Christian Academy dropped their record down to 9-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they moved to 11-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Village Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Fayetteville Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. American Leadership Academy-Johnston will be paying especially close attention to the Knights' game: after the Knights faces off against Northwood Temple Academy, they'll take on American Leadership Academy-Johnston again at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
