The Royal Knights will challenge the College Place Hawks at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Royal will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Warden, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights blew past the Cougars 17-5 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Jill Allred was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Audrey Bergeson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Andersen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Royal lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, College Place put another one in the bag back in March to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 26-11 margin over Cashmere.
Adrienne Berube and Graycelyn Tonn did most of the damage at the plate: Berube got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base, while Tonn scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. Payton Moore was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Royal's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for College Place, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Royal has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like College Place struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Royal took their victory against College Place in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
