Not much got past Corey Erickson, who gave up just a hit to keep Bonneville off the board. Erickson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bountiful is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Kyson Burningham and Jackson Kyhl did most of the damage at the plate: Burningham went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Kyhl went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two doubles gave Burningham a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Stapley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bountiful was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonneville only posted a batting average of .158.
Meanwhile, Viewmont earned a 7-3 victory over Woods Cross on Monday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Kade Marriott was excellent, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Spencer Rees was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Bountiful's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.86 runs across that stretch. As for Viewmont, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
Bountiful couldn't quite get it done against Viewmont when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the RedHawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
