Basketball Recap: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Shaw Raiders

If Columbus was riding high fresh off their 68-47 takedown of Jordan on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Columbus Blue Devils took a blow against the Shaw Raiders on Saturday, falling 68-40. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-44 back in January.

Shaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kristian Gibson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Gibson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryson Denson, who posted ten points.

Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Shaw, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will head out to square off against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shaw, they are taking a road trip to challenge Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
