Recap: Northland Vikings vs. Centennial Stars

The Northland Vikings were the 53-27 winner over the Centennial Stars when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Northland ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-45 walloping at the hands of Centennial on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Northland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while Centennial is ranked 232nd).

Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kennedy Houston, who scored 26 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. The match was Houston's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Aza Corbett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 23 rebounds.

Northland has fallen quite a ways from their 16-7 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Centennial, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dublin Scioto at 1:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Centennial will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bexley at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th.
