Baseball Recap: Lima Senior Wins Going Away Against Waite

Lima Senior won the last time they faced Waite and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spartans blew past the Indians 17-1. Considering the Spartans have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lima Senior got a massive performance out of Emmanuel Jokinen-Rutz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Jokinen-Rutz a new career-high. Ja'Irus Wash was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Lima Senior was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Lima Senior and bumps their season record up to 6-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Waite, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Lima Senior will square off against Elida at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Waite, they will face off against Rogers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
