Volleyball Recap: McAllen Bulldogs vs. Harlingen South Hawks

McAllen had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Harlingen South Hawks 3-0 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on eight straight.

McAllen not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Harlingen South between 15 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-15, 25-16.

Isabella Rivera paced McAllen's offense, picking up nine kills. Rivera got some help from Yaneli Rocha and her 31 assists. Gabby Estringel controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaytlynn Rodriguez, who had 14 digs. Rodriguez has been hot , having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Meredith Nash, who had six digs and 20 assists.

McAllen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 31-11 record this season. As for Harlingen South, they moved to 23-17 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

McAllen will face off against Flour Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Flour Bluff will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something McAllen surely won't give up without a fight. Harlingen South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
