Basketball Game Preview: Rains Wildcats vs. Mount Vernon Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rains Wildcats duke it out with the Mount Vernon Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... One thing working in Rains' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.

Rains is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Commerce just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Tigers are ranked 239th).

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Lone Oak and fell 65-37. The Tigers were down 53-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Mount Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Rains, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Rains beat Mount Vernon 44-35 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Does Rains have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mount Vernon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
