Basketball Game Preview: Crete Cardinals vs. Skutt Catholic SkyHawks

The Crete Cardinals and the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Crete has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Skutt Catholic will arrive with seven straight victories.

Last Thursday, Crete might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Seward an easy 55-33 win. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Bluejays are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Skutt Catholic beat Douglass 61-49 on Saturday.

Crete's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Skutt Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.

Crete took a serious blow against Skutt Catholic in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 63-31. Can Crete avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
