Basketball Recap: Tharptown Victorious

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Tharptown Wildcats beat the Tremont Eagles 50-46 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Tremont's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Platt, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Platt is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Crenshaw, who shot 71% from the field en route to 14 points and three steals.

The victory got Tharptown back to even at 4-4. As for Tremont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Tharptown will be playing in front of their home fans against Covenant Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tremont, they will head out to face off against Cherokee at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
