Baseball Game Preview: Statesville Christian Lions vs. Lake Norman Christian Lions

Statesville Christian will challenge Lake Norman Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Statesville Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Statesville Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Friendship Christian, taking the game 6-2.

Stephen Nielsen made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Statesville Christian is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Nielsen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremy Todd, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Elijah Super was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Grace Academy hit Lake Norman Christian with a 12-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Lake Norman Christian came up short against Grace Academy, falling 14-4. Lake Norman Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Norman Christian now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Statesville Christian, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Statesville Christian took their victory against Lake Norman Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will Statesville Christian repeat their success, or does Lake Norman Christian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
