Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Livermore's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Livermore barely beat Dublin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cowboys' pitcher stepped up to hand the Gaels a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cowboys considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Livermore got a great performance from Kaci Norton as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Norton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Livermore let Laine Macosky and Maggie Pyke run wild. Macosky scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Pyke went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. What's more, Macosky posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydney Aguilar, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Livermore has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Dublin, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Livermore will take on Alameda in a tournament on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cowboys 3.3, the Hornets 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Dublin, they will venture away from home to square off against Liberty at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
