Soccer Game Preview: Shades Valley vs. Montevallo

The Shades Valley Mounties will venture away from home to square off against the Montevallo Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Shades Valley is headed into Thursday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They lost 3-0 to Pell City on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Montevallo had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bears a 10-0 shutout. Montevallo might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by three goals or more this season.

Montevallo's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those four games. As for Shades Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5-2.

Shades Valley took their victory against Montevallo in their previous matchup back in March of 2015 by a conclusive 4-1 score. Will the Mounties repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
