Basketball Game Preview: Wheeler Eagles vs. Baldwyn Bearcats

Wheeler hasn't had much luck against Baldwyn recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wheeler Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Baldwyn Bearcats at 8:30 p.m. One thing working in Wheeler's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.

Last Monday, Wheeler was fully in charge, breezing past Tremont 78-30. Given Wheeler's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Tremont is ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Baldwyn duked it out withRipley on Friday. Baldwyn was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Ripley.

Wheeler has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.2 points per game. As for Baldwyn, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Wheeler ended up a good deal behind Baldwyn in their previous matchup back in January, losing 63-48. Can Wheeler avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
