The Colony was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Newman Smith Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-0 last Tuesday.

Manuel Navarrette looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josiah Rojas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, one stolen base, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Noah Martinez-Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The Colony has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Newman Smith has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11-2 record this season.

The Colony will challenge Highland Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newman Smith, they will face off against Reedy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Reedy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Newman Smith surely won't give up without a fight.
