It was a good run, but Streamwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Geneva Vikings. If the Sabres were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Vikings when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
While Streamwood had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19.
David Krebs paced Streamwood's offense, picking up eight kills. Krebs got some help from John Garcia and his 20 assists.
Streamwood's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Geneva, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Streamwood will host Larkin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sabres are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Geneva, they will take on Maine West in a tournament on Saturday.
