Lassen extended their postseason success on Friday against Gridley. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 back in April.

Tony Carvalho spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lassen's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zayn Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Wright has posted since back in April. Connor Kirack was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for Lassen and bumps their season record up to 17-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Gridley, they moved to 19-9 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Lassen and Gridley are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Grizzlies will square off against Yreka at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Miners will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Lassen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gridley, they will take on West Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
