Softball Recap: Bishop Montgomery Takes Down Providence in a Playoff Battle

Bishop Montgomery had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Providence Pioneers a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Macey Kim made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Kim was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Forbess, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Bishop Montgomery's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Providence, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Coming up, Bishop Montgomery will face off against West Ranch at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
