Softball Recap: Winslow Wins Going Away Against Blue Ridge

Winslow won the last time they faced Blue Ridge and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 17-4 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyah Wilcox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Cassius Tsosie was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ara Leonard, who went 1-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Winslow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Winslow and bumps their season record up to 16-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Blue Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Winslow wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-5 win against River Valley on the 23rd. As for Blue Ridge, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-3 defeat against Snowflake on the 24th.
