Softball Recap: Westwood Wins Going Away Against Millis

Westwood won against Norwood on Monday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wolverines blew past the Millis Mohawks 15-0. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Bridget Mulkeen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Westwood got a massive performance out of Eve Clinton, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Sasha Marino was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.

Westwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millis only posted an OBP of .118.

Westwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Millis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will face off against Holliston at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Millis, they will take on Medway at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.41 runs per game on average), something the Mohawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
