The Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 39-26 win over Liberty. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cornerstone Charter Academy also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Cornerstone Charter Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Jervis , who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Janis, who scored 10 points.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, one person who can't be blamed is India Smith. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 steals. Bryanna Baguette was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Cornerstone Charter Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Cornerstone Charter Academy will head out on the road to face off against Mount Dora at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Poinciana at 5:00 p.m.
