Softball Game Preview: Archbishop Murphy Wildcats vs. Lynnwood Royals

The Archbishop Murphy Wildcats will challenge the Lynnwood Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Archbishop Murphy's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Lynnwood has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Archbishop Murphy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Glacier Peak, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 6-4 last Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 10, 2024.

Ari Dixon was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Sarah Fletcher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Lynnwood came up short against Edmonds-Woodway on Wednesday, falling 19-7.

Lynnwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Archbishop Murphy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Everything went Archbishop Murphy's way against Lynnwood in their previous matchup back in March, as Archbishop Murphy made off with an 18-0 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
