Football Game Preview: Highlands Bluebirds vs. Greenup County Musketeers

The Highlands Bluebirds will take on the Greenup County Musketeers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Highlands is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Scott County, who was ranked 19th at the time (Highlands was ranked eighth). The Bluebirds strolled past the Cardinals with points to spare two weeks ago, taking the game 42-28. 42 seems to be a good number for the Bluebirds as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Tayden Lorenzen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 103 yards and five touchdowns. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Rio Litmer was another key player, throwing for 122 yards and one TD while completing 88.9% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Highlands was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Greenup County earned a 32-22 victory over Montgomery County on Friday. The Musketeers haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Highlands' victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Greenup County, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
