Softball Game Preview: Hampton Bays Baymen vs. Rocky Point Eagles

The Hampton Bays Baymen will head out on the road to take on the Rocky Point Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton Bays will be strutting in after a win while Rocky Point will be coming in after a defeat.

Hampton Bays will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Amityville Memorial on Thursday. The Baymen never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The game marked the Baymen's most dominant win of the season.

Emma Grunewald made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Spezzacatena, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Lee Brumagim was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Rocky Point unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Miller Place by a score of 3-2.

Rocky Point's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Hampton Bays, their record is now 8-12.

Hampton Bays might still be hurting after the 14-6 defeat they got from Rocky Point in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Baymen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
