Softball Recap: Valley Catholic Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Valley Catholic dropped their record down to 5-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-7 to the Warrenton Warriors, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Valiants, who fell 9-7 when the teams last met on Tuesday.

As for Warrenton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly two runs.

For Warrenton's part, Scarlet Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Anderson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Natalie Davis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Lucy Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Catholic will take on Seaside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Warrenton, they will challenge Portland Adventist Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
