Basketball Game Preview: Clairemont Chieftains vs. San Dieguito Academy Mustangs

The Clairemont Chieftains will head out on the road to square off against the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Clairemont is headed out to face San Dieguito Academy after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Chieftains snuck past Southwest SD with a 50-45 victory on Wednesday.

Clairemont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Liam Brock led the charge by putting up 14 points and three steals. Those 14 points gave Brock a new career-high. Omar Rodarte was another key player, scoring 12 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for San Dieguito Academy, as they earned their first away win of the season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Orange Glen 69-39. The Mustangs pushed the score to 47-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.

Clairemont was dealt a bruising 69-32 loss at the hands of San Dieguito Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2016. Can the Chieftains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
