Softball Game Preview: Plattsburgh Hornets vs. AuSable Valley Patriots

The Plattsburgh Hornets will face off against the AuSable Valley Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Plattsburgh was able to grind out a solid win over Peru, taking the game 11-8.

Meanwhile, AuSable Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Moriah with a sharp 37-3 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Ava Doyle looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cassidy Richards, who scored six runs and stole two bases while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Julia Bailey was another key player, getting on base in three of her seven plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one triple.
