Football Recap: Hopatcong Comes Up Short

Hopatcong extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were dealt a 34-7 defeat at the hands of the Wallkill Valley Rangers. The Chiefs were not able to make up for their loss to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

As for Wallkill Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2. That looming 34-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Wallkill Valley found their leader in sophomore Cole Bolich, who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 161 yards and two TDs. Bolich's longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hopatcong is set to square off against their familiar foe Kinnelon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wallkill Valley will take on rival Whippany Park at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
