Overton has gone a perfect 6-0 against Cushing recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Bearkats at 6:00 p.m.

Overton is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Douglass just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 47-36 to the Indians.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cushing). They were the clear victors by a 96-73 margin over New Summerfield on Tuesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bearkats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 599th, while the Hornets are ranked 1446th).

Cushing is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points over those games. As for Overton, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-7.

Overton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cushing in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Bearkats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
