The Columbia Central Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Loretto Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Columbia Central is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 21st on Tuesday. They lost 9-3 to Lincoln County. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Columbia Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Thomas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Loretto came up short against Lewis County on Tuesday and fell 6-1.

Casen Springer put in work no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Loretto is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-12 otherwise. Springer was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Loretto has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Columbia Central, their record now sits at 11-7.
