Baseball Recap: Chapman Takes a Loss

Chapman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southeast of Saline Trojans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 14, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Aven Woods made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Chapman's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Cote-Boss, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Chapman now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Southeast of Saline, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chapman beat Southeast of Saline by a score of 12-11 later that day.
