Football Recap: Knightstown Comes Up Short

If Knightstown was feeling good fresh off their 59-12 takedown of Union City last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers had to suffer through a 58-20 loss at the hands of the Eastern Hancock Royals. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Knightstown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Willard, who picked up 108 receiving yards and one score. The Panthers also got help from Jameson Crawford, who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Knightstown's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Alex Muir, Levi Sparks, and Xavier Wilkinson, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Mark Kube was his usual excellent self, rushing for 219 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry for Eastern Hancock. With that strong performance, Kube is now averaging an impressive 123.6 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Edon, who threw for 186 yards and three TDs while completing 79.2% of his passes.

Knightstown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Eastern Hancock, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Knightstown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 89-0 win against Cambridge City Lincoln on the 26th. As for Eastern Hancock, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-0 victory against Park Tudor on the 26th.
