Basketball Recap: Ysleta Now 12-2 over Last 14 Games

If Mountain View wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ysleta, they should've done a better job of containing Azaiah Thompson. The Ysleta Indians blew past the Mountain View Lobos 60-33 on Friday thanks in part to Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten boards. That makes it 20 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Ysleta's points.

Christian Chaparro was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rebounds (four).

Several Lobos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jesus ' Gio' Rodriguez, who posted eight points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Diego Gonzalez, who scored eight points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Ysleta is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-18.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ysleta will take on Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Riverside comes in on four and Ysleta on 11. As for Mountain View, they will square off against Fabens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
