Baseball Recap: Plymouth Sets Scoring Season-High Against Culver Academies

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plymouth). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-16 win over the Culver Academies Eagles on Tuesday. With that victory, the Pilgrims/Rockies brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Plymouth got a massive performance out of Preston Wolfe, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Wolfe has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hall, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.

Plymouth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Plymouth is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Culver Academies, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Looking ahead, Plymouth will venture away from home to take on Mishawaka at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pilgrims/Rockies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavemen have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Culver Academies, they will challenge Tri-Township at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
