Baseball Recap: Nooksack Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mariner

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nooksack Valley). They never let the Mariner Marauders get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Saturday. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Marauders, too.

Nooksack Valley got a massive performance out of Evan Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Brown hit this season. Another player making a difference was Connor Hopkins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Nooksack Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Nooksack Valley's record now sits at 2-4. As for Mariner, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Nooksack Valley is taking a road trip to take on Bellingham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nooksack Valley is facing Bellingham at the right time seeing as Bellingham is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mariner, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Arlington at 4:00 p.m. Arlington's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Mariner's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
