Basketball Game Preview: Bandys Trojans vs. East Burke Cavaliers

The Bandys Trojans will take on the East Burke Cavaliers in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bandys is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 77 points per game this season.

Bandys is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Kings Mountain just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Mountaineers 58-54. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Loss or not, Bandys got some senior leadership from Landon Vaughan and Dominic Robinson. Vaughan shot 5-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Robinson dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. The match was Vaughan's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayden Henrickson, who posted five points.

Even though they lost, Bandys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, East Burke lost to Freedom on the road by a 64-47 margin on Tuesday. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bandys fell to 6-1. As for East Burke, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Bandys beat East Burke 66-54 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Bandys have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Burke turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
