            Football Recap: South Newton Rebels vs. Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            South Newton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a  blow against the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles on Friday, falling  42-6. Sadly, the  loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.
 Lake Station Edison got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Oscar Alderson out in front who rushed for 163 yards and three  touchdowns on only seven carries. Alderson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D,  picking up  a  sack and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss). Another player making a difference was  David Parker, who rushed for 110 yards and a pair of  TDs on only nine carries.
 Coming up, South Newton will challenge Covington at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Lake Station Edison, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Illinois C  at 7:30  p.m.
