Basketball Recap: Nokomis Sets Scoring Season-High Against Calvary

Nokomis scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 80-62 bruising from the Calvary Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redskins of the 67-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Luke Blackford was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 15 en route to 25 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals for Calvary. The game was Blackford's 17th in a row with at least 19 points. Reese Huffman was another key player, shooting 4-for-5 from deep and dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Nokomis' defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Calvary, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Nokomis has already played their next match (against Hillsboro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Calvary, they will take on Mt. Pulaski at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Mt. Pulaski likes a good challenge.
