Rossview is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Dickson County is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hawks will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rossview 3.2, Dickson County 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Rossview earned a 4-1 victory over Stewart County.
Rossview's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Waller, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Dickson County got themselves on the board against West Creek on Thursday, but West Creek never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Coyote with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Elizabeth Dunnagan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coralee Grove, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kailey Beene was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Dickson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Creek only posted an OBP of .333.
Dickson County is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Rossview, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Rossview couldn't quite get it done against Dickson County when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
