Basketball Recap: Ridge Community Takes a Loss

Ridge Community lost against Auburndale back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Ridge Community Bolts fell just short of the Auburndale Bloodhounds by a score of 51-49. While losing is never fun, the Bolts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Bloodhounds are ranked 128th).

Despite the loss, Ridge Community still got an impressive performance from Eugene Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Daniels a new career-high in blocks (three). Tarique Kennedy was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Leading Auburndale to victory were DEREK RAMIREZ and Jaden Lindsay. RAMIREZ went 7 of 14 en route to 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Lindsay almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Lindsay is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. DESHAWN JOHNSON also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Ridge Community is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 4.25 points. As for Auburndale, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Ridge Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-41 loss against Jordan Christian Prep on the 25th. As for Auburndale, they will square off against Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winter Haven has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with nine straight defeats, while Auburndale will come in with four straight victories.
