Volleyball Recap: Samantha Bush's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woodmore over Lakota

After flying high against St. Mary Central Catholic on Thursday, Woodmore came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Lakota Raiders on Monday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Woodmore ultimately came up short, they really made Lakota work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-9, 26-24, 20-25, 25-13.

Woodmore lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Samantha Bush, who had nine digs and seven assists. Vida Guillen was another key player, getting 19 assists and three digs.

Addie Gilbert went supernova For Lakota., getting 13 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Gilbert a new career-high.

Woodmore has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Lakota, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Woodmore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Northwood on the 16th. As for Lakota, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Ottawa Hills on the 17th.
