The Glens Falls guard makes 10 three-pointers en route to a career high and victory.

Another chapter was written into the illustrious high school athletic career of Joe Girard III on Friday night.

The senior guard broke a New York Section II single-game scoring record by going for 69 points, leading Glens Falls (Glens Falls, N.Y.) to a 98-83 victory over Schuylerville. According to the Daily Gazette, Girard, a Syracuse commit, broke the record of 67 points set by Rich Campoli in 1964.

Girard made 10 three-pointers, 11 two-point baskets and went 17-for-21 at the foul line.

The 6-foot-2 standout was named the state's Mr. Basketball last season while averaging better than 50 points per game. He's also something of a local legend on the football field after leading the Indians to two state championships as the team's quarterback.

In basketball, he was already the state's career scoring leader and now has 4,174 points. Late last season he broke the previous state mark of 2,946 set by Lance Stephenson, now of the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Friday, Girard broke his personal career single game high of 60 that he accomplished twice last season.

"It was a fun night, and I'm glad we won," Girard told the newspaper. "I was just playing confident in my game in order to try and help my team win, and thankfully, we did that."
