Basketball Recap: Hylton Comes Up Short

Hylton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 49-26 to the Potomac Senior Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Panthers are ranked 113th).

Despite the defeat, Hylton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madison Scroggins posted four points and five boards.

Potomac Senior was led to victory by Breanna Semenuk and Wynter Thomas. Semenuk earned 15 points, while Thomas had 15 points. The dominant performance gave Thomas a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Dabney, who put up six points.

Hylton's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Potomac Senior, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Hylton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-43 defeat against Stafford on the 27th. As for Potomac Senior, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-41 victory against Woodbridge on the 28th.
