After a string of six wins, Tyler HEAT's's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to McKinney North 59-53. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Tyler HEAT came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while McKinney North is ranked 863rd).
Tyler HEAT's loss came despite strong showings from Elijah Grimes and Waker Hartman. Grimes scored 7 points along with 8 blocks and 6 rebounds, while Hartman scored 16 points. Hartman scored a full 30.2% of Tyler HEAT's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kedren Penny was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Tyler HEAT's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for McKinney North, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.
Tyler HEAT's road trip will continue as they head out to face Westwood. As for McKinney North, they will face off against Bullard at 1:15 p.m. on Friday. Bullard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 194 points over their last three games.
