Baseball Recap: Hackensack Takes a Loss

Hackensack was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to the Midland Park Panthers. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Panthers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Darius Pemberton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Hackensack: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 9-13-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jose Urena, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Hackensack's loss dropped their record down to 11-14-1. As for Midland Park, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-9.

Looking ahead, Hackensack will venture away from home to square off against Paramus Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Midland Park, they will welcome New Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
