Baseball Game Preview: Riverdale Cowboys vs. Strathmore Spartans

The Riverdale Cowboys will square off against the Strathmore Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Riverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Riverdale is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Parlier just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cowboys have suffered since March 8th.

Ashkari Arredondo and EMMANUEL BOJORQUEZ stepped up to the plate in a big way. Arredondo scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while BOJORQUEZ scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. BOJORQUEZ is becoming a predictor of Riverdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). ALEJANDRO SOLORIO was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Strathmore came up short against Woodlake on Thursday, falling 12-3.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Strathmore, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8-1.

Riverdale couldn't quite finish off Strathmore when the teams last played back in April of 2019 and fell 2-0. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
