Baseball Recap: Rochester's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Rochester dropped their record down to 16-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 6-2 to the Northwestern Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Zebras of the 9-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Rochester saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Casper, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

As for Northwestern, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Northwestern's side, Chase DeWitt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. DeWitt has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jax Hanson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rochester will take on Logansport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwestern, they will challenge Carroll at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
